[rebel-builders] Anyone wanna buy an almost finished Super Rebel?

I remember my Elite being that way after I rigged them. I mentioned it to
Robin at MAM and he didn't think it was an issue. Do you have the lever
assembly riveted in on the ends of the control tubes at the root of the
fuselage? I think there is some flex there since I only have a couple clecos
there, I since pulled 2 small rivets in them temporarly and that seem to
help some. I haven't looked at it that close in a several months but I think
I have the same result you have in my shop.

Yes, I could see the mixer plate play. So I jammed a screwdriver in there
and eliminated the mixer plate play completely. That didn't help any
noticeable amount. Can you give me an idea of the magnitude of the play
you
have? I tied down the stick, then moved the aileron while holding a ruler
up to the trailing edge to determine that mine has an inch of play. Does
yours "bounce" when you move the stick then stop moving?

My ailerons also have a bit of freeplay (N96CS a SR). Most seems to come
from the pulley on the cabin side of the wing root (a sort of twisting
movement), also the "bat shaped" mixer plate on the cabin roof allows some
movement of the push rods. I have tightened everything and eliminated
most
of the slop, but there is still some. Just returned from a 16 hour trip
from the FL Gulf coast to OSH and though fairly stable (even in IFR
conditions), I wish I could make the ailerons tighter and more effective.

I can't believe I have another major problem! I hooked up the left
aileron
with the wing to fuselage push-pull rod and when moving the stick I
noticed
the aileron bouncing a bit when I stopped moving the stick. I tied the
stick down and with it held in place I can move the aileron a full inch
at
the trailing edge! I tried to narrow down where the worst of it is being
caused which I really need a second person to help do. Aileron to the
wing
root end of the torque rod seems solid as a rock. The worst of it seems
to
be the push-pull rod I just hooked up but again it's hard to be sure
without
a second person to hold things. The frustrating thing is I reviewed the
entire system against the manual and I have built it exactly as described
in
the manual. Every builder should have run into the same problem. There
should be a "to avoid excessive free play the builder should take care
to..." entry in the manual. HELLLLLPPPPP!

Went out to the hangar today and after weeks of no sign of leaks from the
tanks the left wing tank is leaking now!

What next?
