thanks - tank fittings and rivets

Thanks Jim and Wray. I will end up with the fittings on the outside and will use the
02 tank rivets. I also think I will place a couple of large access holes (sealed and
riveted closed) in the tank so that I can fix any problems in the future. I plan to
put them on the top although the stringers are close together there. Thanks for all
your thoughts folks. Hope I get to meet some of the rest of you in person some day.

Thought I'd share my thoughts on access holes since I used one large oval one on
the bottom of each tank as well. On a two bay tank, if you put the access hole
in the bottom outer bay, then you can get access to it through the filler cap to
coat its rivets. It will also give you access to the upper outer stringer exit
points which seem to be a troublesome spot on some tanks. You of course already
have access to the exterior wing root exit points. Near as I can tell the tanks
are more likely to leak on the top since you can goop the bottom well before
installing the top.

Also I left the baffles closest to the access cover uninstalled until I close
the access hole. That gives me access to the rest of the tank through the one
access hole. That way I can coat all the upper rivets with brushable pro-seal
and close the access hole last. I only used one access hole (middle bay) on my 3
bay tank. Think my openings are about 3.5" x 11".

All my tank rivets are the 03 rivets. The 02 rivets may not be long enough in a
few places through the main spar depending on how you build your tank. ie at the
corner if you have spar +main skin +tank skin +leading edge skin you probably
want an 03 rivet or a regular avex rivet there.

Anyway just my thoughts right or wrong.
