Garry, it's best if you get this waiver form and then you just quote your authorization number.
http://www.tsa.gov/interweb/assetlibrar ... ponder.doc

They like 7 days to process, but if you fax it today, you may still get it in time. You will also need this waiver form which is just downloaded from the web, and you just carry it with your other papers.
http://www.copanational.org/down/FAASFACanadianABA.pdf

When you fly back to Abbotsford, you need to contact this number, 1-888-YVR-CODE to give them your waiver authorization number. If you don't have one, then you can request a waiver, but it should be done in advance, days ahead would be recommended (you can do it from Calgary), and you will probably have to ask for a supervisor before they eventually will give it to you. Bruce G. went through this a couple of years ago when he flew back with me.

As it happens, Bruce is coming back up from Arlington as well, so unless he has a transponder now, will likely go through the same procedure as you. I will be down there on Saturday, and will likely fly back either Sat evening or on Sunday, same route as yourself, Abbotsford and then to Langley. So depending on when you are going, you might be able to join us. Yes, at Abbotsford and Langley, if you stay below 2500 you're OK. But would still advise getting a Vancouver VTA, which can be bought at Langley, for flying around the area. I keep my plane at Langley. Here is the website for that.
http://www.langleyairport.bc.ca/index.htm

And for that matter, Garry, not sure what your plans are, but if you can make it, you should join Bruce and I for some local flying around BC during the week after Arlington. You won't need floats for some of the places we go. In any case, hope to meet up with you at some point.

I'm hoping to bring FOKM to Arlington next week. My intent is to
returnto Canada via Abbotsford customs and then west to Langley
for a meeting.
I do not have a transponder and am not familiar with local
procedures so
will like some confirmation from locals there. I read that I can stay
out of class C space which requires mode c by staying under 2500
ASL in
that area. Otherwise there should be no problems with airspace. Am I
correct in that?

Thanks Walter. I already have the waiver. I was just concerned about the
airspace stuff. I will try to pick up a VTA for Vancouver prior to the
trip.

Is there a posting board at Arlington to find people with? I'm looking
forward to meeting some fellow rebel owners. The only other one in
Calgary has sold (Murray) to some fellow in Creston I believe. Everyone
else here seems to be into RV's.

I don't think I'll be able to do the Nimpo thing this year but hopefully
next year. I expect to have my son-in-law with me for Arlington and
probably won't be able to extend the trip for that. The only way that
might happen is if he gets weathered into taking a commercial home (or
can't come at all). Then I might be able to extend my trip.

I plan on putting the floats back on next season then taking some more
training in Kelowna next summer. That will make the Nimpo thing even
better I suspect.

The Arlington fly-in is pretty small compared to Osh and Lakeland, so it is usually not hard to find people. Murphy is always there, so check in with them, and you can usually spot the other Murphy planes, too, and ask around. What days will you be there and then to Langley?

We should arrive in Chilliwack on the 4th and will probably be around
Arlington thru to Sunday - unless we get bored. Langley meeting would be
on the 10th.
