fus bulkheads

Hello all,

Started the fus to my rebel but not sure if I'm supposed to trim the length of the bulkheads on the sides. The manual addresses the 4"overlap on top and bottom but the overlap is about 12" on the sides. Do you trim them down to the 4" overlap? If not, how many rivets?
