Hi Ted !

The main thing is that you are all OK !! The cabin section looks
good, considering ... it IS a strong, safe airplane !

Reading accident reports, it seems it's always a chain of events -
at least 3 successive things, that go wrong to create an accident. Don't
beat yourself up too badly - I'd bet almost every one of us has gone
down that path to at least one or 2 events, and there, but for .....
we all would be ! I know I've had my share of 'close ones' .

Airplanes can always be rebuilt - carry on and enjoy LIFE !

Thanks for sharing your suffering - hopefully someone will learn
from it - even if it's just the one extra look at the valves before
takeoff ..... It sure reminded ME !

Sorry about your mishap, Ted, and glad no one was hurt. Hope you get it
rebuilt before too long and get back to enjoying the flying part again. And
thanks for sharing. That takes a lot, too, considering how you are feeling.
Hopefully, it will save someone else.

Sure sorry to hear about your incident Ted... glad to hear everybody was
alright, when all is said and done that's the important thing, and you can't
second guess flying the plane and saving everybody on board not matter what
else you may have done.

Thanks for the pics. Your composure in taking them will be of great
assistance to us, albeit, at your cost. This could happen to all of us and
I can only wish you to get back in the saddle quickly. Keep writing the

Hi Ted

Glad to hear you are all OK. I know how you must feel, and thanks for
posting it so we all can learn from your experience. Great flying to
concentrate on the job in hand when it quit.

An A&P friend of mine sent me the following when I folded up my Fuselage
last year...it's turned out to be true :-)

"Just remember that there is no amount of damage that the good pilot in you
can do to an aircraft that the good engineer in you can't sort out!"

Ted,

Sorry to hear about your incident. It hurts to see your Moose damaged so. We must all look to the positive side of the situation. Only minor injuries, and everyone goes home.

Your a great pilot for the decisions made at the time, hesitation in making desisions usually has a worse outcome. You did fine in my eyes. Keep your chin up.

Cheers,
Jeff

Ted,

Like the others, sure glad that no one was hurt. Your Moose looks
repairable ... like 612e that was damaged, being on the repair vs. building
side of the bucking bar has its own sets of challenges and rewards.
Regardless of the path you choose ... remember that life is an adventure ...
and adventure is what happens when your plans change ...

Cheers,

Bob 612e

Hi Ted: Your a great man for sharing such an experience: I know we all learn
from this and the importance of distractions during pre-flight and or being
pressured to expedite take offs. I was caught twice, yes twice taking off
with my cowl plugs still in and leaving stuff on the ground, just to name a
few. I was just more fortunate at the outcomes. Real sorry to see your
aircraft bent as it bothers me to see any aircraft bent knowing the
care, work and financial effort that goes into producing such a fine
aircraft.Glad you are O.K.to continue to enjoy life. Best regards. - Bob

Ted,

First, glad your ok. If I had a nickel for everytime I was distracted when I shouldn't have been, I could hire the Rutan's to build me a plane. Again glad your ok. We've all done it. I once flew for 45 minutes without the oil cap on... that was quite a mess, got distracted by someone before the flight. My mechanic once found a pair of pliers in the wing that I left there from the previous years annual... I recall the discussion then and the year before that distracted me! Someone noted that we will all learn from your missfortune. I'm sure we will, but we can all learn from your courage to tell the story when many would quietly say nothing. Your quite a guy!

Hang in there!

Rick
