I also noticed it on my gear legs. What I found was that the surfaces on
each mount that the gear leg lays against are approx. parallel but not
separated by the thickness of the Super Rebel gear leg. Mine are 7/8" apart
instead of 3/4" gear leg thickness. I believe this forces the gap you
noticed. The Moose leg should fit without a gap because it is 1/8" thicker
than the SR. What I'm going to do is add a section of 1" x 1/8" wall steel
channel on top of the mounting hole on the innermost mount bracket. Then I
will have a larger 1 1/4"channel from below to capture the other end of the
bolt and the top 1" channel. The extra 1/8" on top of the mount should make
the two mounting surfaces separated by the 3/4" gear leg thickness. I
haven't completed it yet so I don't have photos, but I will post them when
I'm done.

Subject: [rebel-builders] Super Rebel gear tip and steel bushings
itsI talked to Stephane at Murphy yesterday with a couple of quick questions
that might be of interest to everyone.
1. When looking at the gear legs where they are captured just prior to
exiting the fuselage I noticed that the bottom fitting does not seat
completely against the upper fitting. There is maybe 1/32 or perhaps as
much as 1/16 gap. The upper and lower fittings are tight against the gear
leg on the edges but I can see light between the gear leg and the lower
fitting in the middle. Stephane says - no problem. Sounds just right. I
figure (and I assume it's why Murphy's position is that it's fine) that
tobetter to have it the way mine are than to try and get the lower fitting
seat fully on the upper fitting and inadvertently remove too much material
so that the gear is not clamped properly.
