[rebel-builders] Rebel forward tailspring bolt bracket

Post by Ken » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:52 am

Yeah they changed that part at least 3 times that I know of. I seem to
recall drilling/reaming/filing that hole from underneath the fuselage
without much difficulty. I wouldn't drill it all the way to final size
but don't remember any reason why you couldn't open it up most of the
way and maybe run a reamer or file through it when it is mated to the
skin. I think I had a bolt through it to hold it to the table or saw
horse at some point.

I won't refer to it by the part number because what is written on the part
is different than what the manual says, but it's the part that the forward
AN-6 bolt goes through. The manual says to just drill it to 3/32 and install
it and close up the tail to be drilled to fit later. When I flipped forward
to the tailspring attachment, it says to drill it out from the inside of the
fuselage?? That would be difficult at best with the FUS-31 riveted in. Is
there a good reason not to drill it to final size now, while I can put it on
the drill press?
Thanks
Jesse
