[rebel-builders] questions about the fus 70's and 30's

You have to double the fus-30 at least as far and a few inches beyond the
bolt that attaches the tail spring to the FUS-49(??on the#) bulkhead. Others
have kept going bigger and bigger and bigger 'till almost doubling the
entire Fus-30 but totally unnecessary. Speaking of that I bet you have the
old FUS-49 and multi layer strap method to construct. I would suggest
getting the new style two piece tail spring attach fittings to rivet to the
FUS-49 instead. The straps will crack the bottom flange off the Fus-49
sooner or later (took mine 8 years).
Also don't forget my Service bulletin on the Fus-31 to rear fin post. .032
doubler and RV1613 rivets instead of RV1410's for attachment.
As for the Fus10/70 dilemma...Fus 10s are only .020 thick. Fus -70's are
.025. MAM supplies 6 fus 10's and 2 fus-70's in the Rebel kit. Make sure you
use the right ones while you build. The Fus 70's belong on the lower front
door post to firewall position. The Fus 10's go on all the others, but I
front-upper) are just fine as .020 IMHO...although if you are going to
upgrade the door sills to .032 and the Fus-25/26's up a thickness you may as
well do the Fus-10 under the door sills a gauge thicker as well.!
Tailsprings....look a little more in the archives. You'll see my three leaf
trailer spring that works like a charm. The MAM solid alum spring makes a
good handle and rope holder once cut off about 4 inches for float ops!

Subject: [rebel-builders] questions about the fus 70's and 30's
?I hope that I'm not pounding this subject to death ?
I'm at the tail section of this process and I have seen where we are to
double the fus 30. I would like to know if I'm to use the whole thing or
just the tail post forward a few inch's like the photo shows on the
archives?
Also can someone tell me why ? to use the fus 70's instead of the fus 10's
springWhat are the most of you using for tail springs ? I see that the tail
tailfrom mam is very thick, and I feel that there is not enough flex in the
spring / to stiff ! Is there a mod for this ?
Thanks for all the help out there.
