Rebel Brake Calipers

Hi all
Went to assemble the calipers today and noticed that the brake pad plate
(the one that floats) is up against the caliper bracket. It is in alignment
with the disk but as soon as there is some wear on the pads, the piston will
eventually bend the plate. Has there been any trouble with the calipers
around the serial numbers of 637? It is not a Matco system. The only way
to use what is here is to put spacers between the axle and the caliper
bracket which would the bracket farther inside the wheel assembly.
