[rebel-builders] Add'l item on insurance quote for Moose

Post by Bruce Georgen » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:39 am

Cheer up Ted,

I pay $1046.00 US for "liability only" on a Rebel Amphib with same hours as your own. It is over $5000.00 with full coverage for 6 months only!

Oh, yea, forgot to add that it is on wheels with no plans for floats.
Believe it or not, I'm told there is no place one can legally land a float
plane in Colorado. Hard to imagine for you Canadian and Alaskan folks
<grin>....

Ted

How about liability and not in motion coverage? A lot of the warbird guys here
in Florida are doing it that way ... In case a hurricane blows the hangar away!

I've asked the ins agency for a three part quote:

- Liability only

- Liability and Not-in-motion

- Full coverage.

I'll let the group know what #'s I get back.

[rebel-builders] Add'l item on insurance quote for Moose

Post by Ken » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:39 am

I just got a quote for a Rebel on wheels. To my amazement the difference
between not-in-motion and full hull coverage was less than 10% of the
hull portion. The speculation was that many not-in-motion claims are
for hull losses or major damage whereas many in-motion claims were for
minor dings and dents. Having just observed numerous aircraft in open T
hangars that weren't tied down, I tend to believe it.
