Hello Ted, I have not yet bought a Moose kit.but I have a New Russian M-14,
and the Murphy ring mounted ready to make the kit purchase soon. I have
been reading all the threads coming across the site the last year ad a half
. Its like I know all of you. But my question is ...do you Have to have
insurance? Until it is a requirement I would consider not . Just my 2 cents
worth . Mark

FWIW, Just got a quote from USSIC (thru Falocn Ins in TX) on the Moose for
the next year. For reference purposes, I have ~850 hrs total, 650
tailwheel
and 235 hrs in the Moose. Full coverage for $160K value is quoted at
$4,872.

Let's see, $4,872 buys:

- 1,597 gallons of 100LL at our field at current prices, or about 106
hours
of flying with that thirsty M-14 up front
- Lot's of tools
- A bunch of sheet metal
- A ton of rivets

We'll see what I do. I asked them to sharpen their pencil and look at a
quote with higher deductible(s) and such.

Mandatory in Canada! Do you drive your car without liability insurance? What
if she gets away from you and you take out a row of aircraft? Then
what...how deep are your pockets??
