Only source for droop tips to fit the Rebel/Elite/Moose wing profile is
Murphy....or start carving foam to make your own plugs.

But why would you want them? Theory and testing seems to favour the
hoerner design.

Ken,

I could not find any comparison information charts on Droop Tips versus the Hoerner design fitted to any of the Murphy product line.

From your statement Theory and testing seems to favour the hoerner design, you must have some additional information, could you please share with us.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff
You may be able to find some references in the archives but either avweb
or one of the aviation magazines did some detailed comparisons on a
Cessna which are online somewhere. Basically a hoerner tip feeds less
energy into the wintip vortices and is aerodynamically equivalent to
adding a foot of so of wingspan. As I recall the droop tip was arguably
better than the plain tip but the hoerner was a clear winner. Benefits
are small though if you prefer the droop look. Several folks here have
commented on their hoerner tips on a Rebel. Curt posted some
comparisions several years ago.

This article by Chris Heintz about STOL design includes a good
explanation of the advantages of Hoerner tips:

As regular readers of this list know, good Hoerner tips for the Rebel
are made by Dave Fife, who can be reached via email at:
