Ordering parts from Murphy

Folks,

I just ordered a part from Murphy to be shipped to my
fathers in Texas so I can pick it up while I am over
in the States next week. Nancy Puff at Murphy wanted
to know my US Social Security number for the couriers
US Customs form? What gives? I sure don't like giving
out this information to just anyone.

Anyone elso had to do this? Is this a new requirement?
