[rebel-builders] Rebel Transponder & Com radios

The newer models of the Val have a battery in them to hold the frequency. I
believe you can also upgrade the older ones to do the same.
Other problem I find with the VAL is sooner or later that little flip-flop
toggle switch causes you fits...doesn't it Garry!

theFWIW - I have dual VALCOM VHF in my SR and have had excellent results. My
only complaint with them is that when power is removed they do not hold
andlast freq. but revert to 121.9 and 121.7 on the flip flops. No problem to
again select the desired freq. when re-powering for next flight. Size is
about the same as ICOM and price is much less.

Hi Jim !
I've had good luck with the VAL-COM units. They're about the same
size as the Icoms, but have a better display - lighted tubes that dim
automatically at night. Same flip-flop channel setup, but with flip
switch rather than push switch. Big attraction was price - $650 or
less .... and fabricated wiring harness for an extra $75.
