Thanks Ralph,
Like you say space is limited so it makes sense then to hang the engine and cut holes later.

Don't I wish I was finished! We have the engine hung, oil cooler mounted, battery on firewall, and most wiring and control cable holes drilled. No, I did not try to follow MAM directions as we have made too many mods for them to apply. From my point of view, the firewall holes are better made after hanging the engine so clearances are assured. The dynafocal mount from MAM has much less clearance to the firewall than other dynafocal mounts I have seen. Positioning the oil cooler is an example. Mine has just enough clearance to work and I hand made a plenum.

We use a spin on oil filter mount from B&C. With a 1 1/4" spacer from them it just clears the mount and firewall. Viewed from the pilots seat the fiulter is parallell to the firewall at about 10 oclock. A remote mount would use additonal scarce firewall space and introduce more leakage opportunities.

We are using flexible "eyeball" cable safes in the firewall as they allow minimum bends in the bowden cables.
Regards,
Ralph Baker

Here is the Van's catalogue site. Go to Engines and Accessories to see what
they have on baffles. I didn't see anything for the 235. I know the 320 is
slightly different than the 360, and would expect the 235 ones to be
different too, as the cylinders at the least are smaller, and not sure about
other case fittings.

Hello

I did put my engine on the airplane yesterday, it was a great moment!
Shit! There is a lot of work done but a lot to be done too!!!!

I put de complete C-152 exhaust system that I bought used at the Sun'Fun
couple of years ago. Not to bad! Just for fun, I put the PA-22 style nose
bowl that I have in front of it.... I think I will have to make some
fiberglass work to do to change a bit the angle of the bottom part. It
gone be a bit more "fat" than a speed cowl! We will see...

Before ordering some parts from Spruce, I would like to have your opinion
if everythings is ok or if I should buy something else

Carburator intake assy (carb heat box) #08-01300
S.S. Cabin heat box #08-04025
Oil filter adaptor # 08-00975
ACS Gascolator #10580 and braquet #10371

Should I buy the soleinoid switch from a local auto store?

For the alternator, may be Iwill order braquet kit from Vans and use a
automotive alternator, is a 0-235 case or boss mount?!?

Many of you have use Vans baffles kits... which one (RV6-7-9 0-320 kit)?
Is a 0-320 kit will fit a 0-235 engine?

Thank to all of you

Jean

Hello Joe

Thanks for the info but this price for 2-3 pounds of aluminium is very expensive... Vans show $250.00 I wrote to them to ask if there 0-320 kits will fit a 0-235...

Auto parts store solenoid is OK for the starter but they're not made for
continuous duty and shouldn't be used for your master.

I used a Van's baffle kit on my new engine and am very pleased with the way
it turned out. Van designed the 7 or 9 to use an 0-235 so they should have
a baffle kit for it if it's different from an 0-320. There's also lycoming
baffle drawings and instructions in the last Tony Bingellis book. Tony on
engines.
