Hi Al !

Only ever seen one that went out ! That must have been an old
trim unit - all the new ones have a dial indicator for position,
not the old 3 LED setup. Maybe you could get one of the new indicators ...

The servo drive and indicator vintage need to match. I think Al may have one
of the even newer ones that is a full range of lights vs a sweep needle...
or the old three light down limit/middle/up limit set up from 10 years ago.

This one has an array of green LEDs in a vertical column - maybe 10 or 12
total, and one of them doesn't come on. Of course, it's the one that is
just about the cruise trim position.

If you are so inclined, take a look through the digi-key or allied site
for a replacement LED strip. 10 LED parts are quite common for a dollar
or two. ($5. if Radio Shack sells something suitable) Regardless I'd add
a current limiting resistor. Typically I find that there is almost no
noticeable brightness decrease when dropping the current 20 to 50 %
through LED's and then you are back in the expected 10,000 hour life
range. Another LED killer is negative voltage spikes, so things like
starter and battery contactor coils should have a diode across the coil
to absorb the negative spike when they turn off.

Hi all

I'm going to fit a small sounder powered by the switched side of the trim
switch - if I hear it when I'm not trimming I'll pull the CB quick time !

You can get coloured (colored :-) ) collars to fit on CB's to help find and
grip them quickly

reached full travel?? I think that is about 3 or 4 seconds on mine from

Hi Al,
I had the same problem with my indicator. Ray Allen replaced it at no
charge. They said there had been a problem with some of the earlier ones.
