Hi All,
A friend of mine was asking what he would use to lubricate his mixture control cables as he
has found them upon a recent visit to the hangar that they seem to be a bit stiff. Any
suggestions? Thanks
Alan

We motorcyclits have a need for cable lube as well. I try to stay away from oil as it can pick up dirt. One thing I recommend is Dri Slide. It comes in a can like 3 in 1 oil and is powdered graphite in a volatile carrier. It is run into the cable housing and then the carrier evaporates leaving the graphite. In the heat of an engine compartment the graphite will still provide dry lubrication.

One thing to look at first is incipient cable failure. Sticky, notchy, operation is a sign thereof.

Thanks Ralph, I checked AC43.13 and they recommended grease or general purpose low-
temperature oil. Glad to find there is a better alternative.

Go to the KANO website, they have just what you need. Their silicone is
nearly pure, picks up no dirt ... I use it on Grumman aileron / flap bearings.
