Well, you're only a 45 min flight from where I am, so let me know any time
that looks good for you. Not sure if you have a transponder, but that helps,
although I know you can get a waiver for that. At worst, just talk to Bruce
G. He has crossed the border with no transponder or waiver, and no birth
certificate and passport on him.

Also, Bob P is supposed to come out here on another Ramble this year to meet
up in Arlington again. After that, we want to fly around BC for a few a week
or so, including the big Nimpo Lake floatplane (wheels OK, too) fly-in, with
Bruce G. joining us, before we head east for Wayne's place at Tamagami.

So should be a great flying summer this year. And yes, I want to do Alaska
one of these years, so keep me in mind for that, too.

Dick's plane sounds real interesting, so definitely want to have a close
look at that one.

Walter

Hi Walter

It was also a nice day at Arlington except for some rough air. There is a
good chance we may get up your way in the late summer, as my friend Dick
should have his Rebel flying in June or July and we both want to get up
north. In the spring of 2007 we are planning a trip to S.E. Alaska, mayby
you could join us.

Dick has been incorporating a number of my aerodynamic cleanup's to his
Rebel, in particular the engine cowl. It is a work of art. The initial
flight testing will be done with the standard Rebel flapron setup, then Dick
will convert to my split flap setup. This should confirm my data as to which
setup is better.

All of the structural mods have been done on his airframe and we designed a
special engine bed mount that ties into a v brace to the upper cabin
structure.Dick has done a good job in keeping things as lite as possible.
This should compensate for the heaver 210 Hp six cyl Continental IO-360 and
the 80 inch McCauley constant speed prop.( note Dick will limit the METO
power to 180 HP through 6000 feet.)

This airplane should be a real Rebel Rocket.

Steve Sloan
Did you ever write up your split flap setup in past builder's notes. I
would be very interested in knowing the performance difference and the
specific way you installed a split flap. Has their been any discussion
as to the pro and con of a split flap vs. flaperon?

Hi Steve
I talked to you about your Rebel as a LSA some time last December. Right now
I am waiting on delivery of my Rebel Kit in which I plan to install a Lyc.
0-235. Although I intend to certify it "experimental". I hope to be able to
build it light enough to fly it on my driver license if it comes to that. I
ordered MAM's split flap version as opposed to their flapron. Is this the
same version you have are have you made additional modifications?

No transponder is not an issue...or at least it hasn't been, so far. You can apply for one on line or just make a call and request the waiver when you're ready to make your flight from Arlington. I would not suggest you try it without a passport, however. Even if you get a waiver from Canadian Customs you may not get back into the US.

Steve,

Good to see you're still watching the list now and then. Your friends Rebel sounds interesting. You'll have to show Walter and I this Arlington. We both would have liked to install an 0360 if we where building again. Particularly (for all you current builders) if your planning amphibs. Do you know the empty wieght of your friends 210 HP Continental six?
