[rebel-builders] Rebel -Component Kits vs The Whole Enchilad

Post by Bob Patterson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:26 am

Hi Rich !

Good news all around !! Glad you are recovering - you're
not the first with a "starter marriage" ;-) It's no fun,
but life does get a lot better !

Since you've got my attention, I'll suggest what I've done
for many other builders ...

Buy the tail kit now - it'll get you started quickly, doesn't
tie up a lot of money, and is inexpensive to crate & ship ....
(And, for worriers ... (not Ralph ;-) ) ... it's not a lot to risk !)

When the dust settles, order BOTH the wing AND fuselage kits together -
they will fit in the SAME crate, saving packing costs, and, shipping
together should save you another thousand or so ... more than offsetting
any interest lost (especially at todays rates ! ). Then you'll
have the whole airframe, at a time when you're ready to work on it.

I wouldn't worry about the engine mounts, cowling, instruments,
etc. until you are ready for them .... You might change your mind
a time or 2 ! ;-) :-)

Awaiting your call !! :-) :-)

Gents,

I am getting real close (Bob P's ears just perked up) to making the
leap for a Rebel kit (or several kits). All I have to do is finish up
some legal work (eh, the ex didn't like small planes anyway, no loss - I
will choose smarter next time) and then I will be free to order.

So, my question is whether or not I should go with the smaller kits or
the whole thing at once. I can order a component kit now, but saving for
the whole thing in one shot might be another 8 month delay (yuck). Has
anyone seen an advantage (other than price I know) in going with the
whole thing at once? Comments from either "side" are welcomed.

Thanks so much...standby Bob...I have the price list in hand and my
checkbook at the ready! :-)

Sincerely,
Rich
