The problem with all Murphy kits is that there are about 100 different
engines you could use ! You're not stuck with just one or 2 ... and the
choice of engine can be as much as 1/2 the total cost !!
It really depends on the kind of flying you want to do ...
The basic kit stuff is: (all in USD )
Rebel $16,647 USD
Float fittings $ 129
2 pair Skylight doublers @ $81/pair $ 162
1 pair Side window doublers $ 81
Crating $ 537

$17,556
That gets you the complete airframe ! ========
I've assumed you have tools - if not, a basic tool kit is only $644.
If you go with a used O-320, it could add $5,000 to $20,000 -
so you see the problem. If you can pick & price an engine, we can
finish the list ! Of course, Murphy could supply a brand new Lycoming -
but hardly anybody does that at todays prices !! ;-)

Fact is, mosts materials are way over designed. Wood steel and
especially welds are all over designed since you cant fig what/who is
gonna install them so th factor of safety is pretty good. Prob 1.2 to
2.0 and sometime more. so's i cant see any of these plane kit folk
supplying less than over designed materials.
