Let's see...when I went to Alaska I had:

- 9 gallons of oil (had to buy more 1/2 through the trip) = 7.5 * 6.5 =
49lbs
- Spare air compressor = ~ 5 lbs
- Enough tools to rebuild the plane <grin> = 25 lbs
- No ladder...just stood on my boy's back

Hey you M14 guys don't forget the spare parts, tools, case of oil and
the ladder. Isn't that part of the empty weight? The devil made me say
it! Al

Well I was going to tell WRH I had never heard of a M14 Moose with
an empty weight under 2000 lbs - now I have. Typical is more like
2000 to 2100 though.

Oh Ted's will be over 2000 as soon as he paints it though..

The Moose cruise specs on the Murphy website are, well, optimistic.
I flight plan 115k @ 16.5 g/hr for mine [and that's a bit
optimistic]. The useful load for a Moose is somewhere very close to
1,500 lbs, of course depending on what a builder adds to the plain
kit. My empty weight is 1990 (I think). Gross is listed as 3,500'
but I hear rumors of guys putting far more than that in theirs.

Scott,

Are you saying the BearHawk would have better perf specs if
corrected or

the Moose would have less?

useful load numbers - like about 300 to 400 pounds. Of course you
can up the max gross to get it all back (in the US anyway).

You should copy that spreadsheet and correct the performance specs
and then it will REALLY look like a good deal!
