Hi Eric !

Have a look through the email archives - search the body for
"O-360" .... and another search for "VG", or "VG's" or "vortex"
also "STOL" and "tips". There's lots of stuff there.
Also check out the photos in the FILES section ...

This site is an invaluable resource - do your homework, so folks
don't get too tired answering the same questions over & over ! :-)

Here are my opinions again -

NO to a Lyc. O-360 --
YES to an XP-360 or other clone that doesn't have the "no continuous
operation" RPM limitations and cylinder weaknesses. Only if absolute
performance is a must-have, and money isn't an issue ....
YES - to the Prince prop - a MUST if you use the O-360, BIG help with
an O-320 ...
YES - to a Lyc. O-320 - works fine. Try to get a good overhauled one.
YES - to a Rotax 912-ULS - if economy is important. Fuel & maintenance
will be MUCH lower ! Use a variable pitch prop to get the best performance.
NO to moving the firewall - screws up too many things
NO to VG's (just MHO !), must be positioned properly, hard to clean,
have flown some that worked (helped), and some that didn't (hurt).
NO to the spring gear if you plan amphibs - the fuse will be a lot
heavier with all the extra beef-ups, and you need adapters for the floats.
YES - Hoerner wing tips and McKenzie STOL kit - got both, they work !
YES - to ALL of the Ontario Mods and factory SB mods

Whew ! Ask more when you've dug through the archives....

What's the consenus on the O-360 for an amphib (light with a Prince prop)?
What about vortex generators; I know they sell a "general aplication kit",
does anyone have any comments?
