O-360, STOL wings, amphibs

What's the consenus on the O-360 for an amphib (light with a Prince prop)?
What about vortex generators; I know they sell a "general aplication kit",
does anyone have any comments?

Jeez Eric If you're looking for consensus you're in the wrong place :)
There's not many rebels flying with an 0-360 yet so you're probably best
to wait until you need your engine before you decide. My rebel does not
too bad on floats with an 0-290 but I'd like to upgrade to an 0-320 just to
get a better climb rate on those hot days out of our little lake.
Personally unless you're planning a lot of mountain flying I think an 0-360
is overkill but I'm sure Walter will have a different opinion. From what
I've read here vortex generators help only if you get them installed in the
right place on the wing. Guys seem really happy with the McKenzie STOL
leading edge cuffs and the Fife hoener style wing tips though.

Yup, if I was building again, it would definitely be one of those new clone 0360s.

I currently have a 150 hp 0320 with about 350 hours since overhaul. It's just nicely broken in now, and runs beautiful. After this summer (no time left to do it now), I am seriously thinking of replacing it with one of those new 0360 clones, specially if that CDN dollar keeps rising. So if anyone is looking for a proven well run in 0320 (not one collecting rust in the corner of some garage) at that time, let me know.

It's the conical mount 0320. Originally, it was an A1A, I think, as it was
set up for constant speed. I converted it to fixed pitch for the Rebel. I
have the lightweight starter and alternator on it.
