Driving Directions for our Annual Ski Flyin - Midland/Peneta

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:41 pm

Driving directions to have you facing the right way for parking!

Come into Penetang on HWY #93 North .....or from Midland via North bound on
Fuller Avenue.

From HWY #93 as you approach Penetang on the 4 lane get in the right lane as
you come up the rise in the highway and turn RIGHT at the first lights onto
THOMPSON ROAD.

Follow Thompson Road all the way up thru the subdivision/field/around the
corner and to the stop sign.

Turn RIGHT onto ROBERT ST EAST and follow up to the stop sign (T in road).

Turn LEFT onto FULLER AVENUE and follow for about a kilometer to the first
PUBLIC road you come across on the RIGHT. This is PINEGROVE ROAD

Turn RIGHT onto PINEGROVE RD and follow East to the very end.

Turn RIGHT onto TINNEY DRIVE and follow a little ways 'till the road starts
bending left. Parking along the West side of the road in the vicinity of the
road sign showing the left turn and you should be able to find the packed
path into the lake from close to that sign.

Our Midland/Penetanguishene, Annual, Ski Flyin is TENTATIVELY scheduled for
Feb the 4th, 2006 10am 'till ?? BBQ lunch between 11:30-12:00
Coffee/Pop/Hamburgers

As in years of past, in the event of inclement weather/ice this event will
move from Saturday to Sunday...to the following weekend.... etc... until we
can pull it off.

With the current weather situation it may turn out to be a float flyin...but
lets hope for a couple weeks of -10C weather to make some nice ice.

Once we get some colder weather I will don the floater suit and go make some
holes to see how the lake is doing and will make update reports closer to
the scheduled event.

This event is to be held in our usual place on Mud Lake (St. Andrews Lake).

This lake is on the peninsula of land between Midland and Penetang Harbours.
The Lake is about 1/4 Mile EAST of the Penetang Water Tower and 1/2 Mile
South of the Super Jail. 1/4 Mile North of Tinney Field.

The closest GPS coordinates I can give you is my own field.....Irish Field =
N44-47-906 W079-53-434.... as I forget where I put the coordinates for the
lake.

The lake is 3/4 mile WEST of Irish Field and the elevation of the lake is
approximately 725'ASL

If we need to pack a slushy lake with sleds....we will mark the landing area
with orange traffic cones. No cones....land anywhere you like, but in all
cases you at your own risk and discretion for this event.

You can contact me by email at oifa@irishfield.onca for further details or
Bruce Tinney at 705-526-6019

Cheers,
Wayne O'Shea
