17/64 drill bit...rolled in your hands preferably...or once they've packed
it in like mine attached to a cordless screwdriver with a piece of rubber
hose. Pretty much anything else is counter sinking and that's not what you
want!

I will put my two cents in here that after doing enough it will just be
natural doing it . Your fingers will get numb to it. If you don't think
about how bad it really is doing them it will go faster. Ya it's not the
best job in the building process but it needs done so a person might as well
make the best of it and just do it and move on there's no getting around it.
I'm sure someone like Wayne would have come up with something better for
this job if it was out there. Dale SR-033

I don't have as much experience as some, but after "only" a couple of
thousand holes, my weapon of choice for deburring is the one shown below. Easy on
the wrist and fingers... just don't over do it in the thin parts!

Forgot to add this link ... the rest of the story ...

www.aacnet.com/elite/misc-pics/DSC03832.JPG

any SLOW RPM drill with a chuck will do the job ... aproximately two
revolutions on each side of the hole does a most excelent job.

I find that split-tip drill bits don't work as well as the
old-fashioned standard tip. The standard tip pilots in the hole, but a
split tip tends to chatter.

I got a duburring tool from Avery:

https://www.averytools.com/cart/pc-428- ... utter.aspx

It fits in a cordless screwdriver and works great. I
started out with the drill bit in the fingers but this
is many times faster and no sore fingers. Just keep an
extra battery charged. You can do a whole mess of
holes in a matter of minutes. Good luck.

Using counter sinking cutters like this tend to over cut the hole if you're
not real real careful ... all you really want to do is get the bur off. The
more cylindrical the hole is the better. Actually, hitting a line of holes
(that won't be visible to the eye when the aircraft (or float) is complete)
with a scotchbrite wheel (in a die grinder or just holding it with your
hand) does the trick.

Yes and oddly my preferred size for easy finger spinning is about the
first smaller size that Wayne mentioned of around 1/4". Even stranger,
once I found the bit that worked best, it became my favourite and a
randomly picked up bit just wasn't as good ;) A 6 flute 1/4" 120
degree countersink in my fingers also worked very well for me. Often if
there was still a burr after using the drill bit, a quick swipe with
about 150 or 180 grit aluminum oxide sand paper finished it nicely.

Some guys just go down the rivet line with a scotch brite finishing disk
in a drill. I stuck with the drill bit and fingers. I didn't really like
the single cutting countersink in the electric screwdriver although it
worked if you were careful. Counting the rework I figure I've deburred
just over 100,000 hole faces (at least four faces per rivet). Only 40 or
50,000 more to go in the floats I'd guess...
