Hello everybody,

I have just discover that I have missdone a job on my first wing.

For the AN3 bolts that fix the spar cap on the main spar, I have put washer (1-2) under the nut, but non under the bolt head!
Easy to fix for the primered section but for those in the wing tank..... Should I remove the proseal to make the change (the top skin not riveted yet (for inspection)?

i would not change what you have done, to be exact if you need 2 washers the
bolts may have been wrong length to begin with, most bolts in my kit have
been wrong length and i have had to replace, in your case it is okay to have
2 washers under the nut, but no more than two, to be perfect it should have
been one under head and one under nut, but don't worry about it, its fine,
at least to my knowledge it is fine, perhaps some else can confirm this, not
all of these are in the tank and you could change them if you wanted to but
i would not worry about it and i bet your inspector wont say anything

All you are shooting for Jean is in 1 thread showing and max 2 1/2 to 3..but
be careful on those AN3's as three threads is pretty carn close to
shouldering the nut. No need for a washer under the heads unless you are
turning the bolt....although I do remember the AN3 bolts supplied for the
spar cap section needed 1 under the head and two under the nut so they
weren't shouldered.

No matter what the case, I sure wouldn't be playing with the Prosealed ones!

I read this and got scared, so just went out and looked at my second wing
that is nearing completion. My spar cap bolts all have only 2 washers under
the nut and none under the head. I have 3 whole threads showing. To reassure
myself I just tightened a nut on an AN3-7 gently until it shouldered. I
counted 4 1/2 threads showing. I am satisfied I have a good installation.
