Corner Wraps - Rebel

To be clear, mine is a Rebel. I have the brace from the bottom of my panel to the firewall. But I just have the windshield with no center support or V brace, which does flex a bit in rough water. Mine was done on the original instructions which had small bolts fastening the bottom to the fiberglass retainer. As a result I have numerous cracks with drilled hole stops. I have a spare windshield in my hangar which I will install using the newer floating method.

Otherwise I just have all the mods that Wayne and others here have talked about. I do have the firewall back 3 inches, so maybe that helps too, with less stress on these parts.

Actually, I do have a couple of other little changes in the how the rivets and doublers were done on the front section that perhaps might help as well. These are hard to describe, and would require pictures. I was lucky to have had Dick Hiscocks (serial #R107) and Dean Leanard (consulting engineer for MAM) pay me a visit (I lived in North Van) while building in my garage, and that's where these mods came from when they knew about my plans for an 0320. I think I was probably the first to use .032 corner wraps on the bottom, because I had to have them specially made for me at that time.

In any case, everything has held together very well, and as I said, I don't baby my airplane, at least not on the water.

Walter
