Looking for advice
Posted: Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:27 pm
Hello,
My name is Roger. I live in Eugene, OR USA. I have been 'listening' to this list for about 6 months. I am a low time pilot (ASEL) and would like to build my
own airplane. Not because I'm tired of renting (although I am!),
but because I would LIKE to build and maintain my own aircraft. I am less than three years away from retirement. I have no previous kit building experience,
but I am not unfamiliar with shop skills.
If I may, I would like to ask for advice regarding the Murphy Rebel, and the Rebel Elite, compared to several other similiar kit aircraft.
I have been researching kit aircraft and kit building for two years and have pretty much narrowed my choices to the Murphy Rebel Elite, the BushCaddy
L-160 ( http://www.avitas.ca/ ), the ARV Griffin MkIV ( http:
//www.arvcorp.com/ ), the Zenith Air CH-801 ( http://www.zenithair.com/ ), and the Murphy Rebel, in that order.
My aircraft requirements are that it be of aluminum construction, be capable of carrying at least two 200# adults as well as at least 100# of gear or cargo
(preferably more), and be capable of at least 100 kts cruise at
75% power. Fuel burn would also be a consideration.
I would appreciate any comments and recommendations. I would also appreciate any knowledge or experiences any of you may have had with the non
Murphy kits/companies mentioned above.
Thanks in advance,
Roger
