FOKM return to flight

Yes, I realized as it was uploading that I should really have trimmed
that picture down. On the left side, the dash was painted matt black,
and the lower forward corner wrap was painted along with the floor under
the pedals. There was more painting on the other side but the pictures
weren't any good. The gear fairings were also done while we had the
paint gun in action. That improves the appearance immensely. I also put
a Scott 24B (old style 2000) tailwheel on her. The Murphy just kind of
disappeared one day. I was perfectly happy with it but it went
walk-about and never came home. Note the lighting from the sun in the
picture. It really makes the plane look good I think.

After suffering some damage in a glassy water landing July 15/05, FOKM
returned to service today on wheels at High River. A picture is posted
under 'completed aircraft'. Myles Cane, the AME who did the repairs and
educated me in the process, flew it with me and was impressed with its
performance. His comment was 'I like this airplane' - with some
enthusiasm. In High River at altitude 3400+ feet performance on wheels
is significantly better than on the floats.

The floats have yet to be repaired and I'm not sure if I will use them
again due to lack of water around here. It was a thrill to get FOKM back
in the air and get a little practice on wheels with a professional pilot
in the right seat.

Yup, very nice, and maybe too nice for that name... Congrats for
getting her flying again.

Hope you don't give up on the floats, though, as you are not that
far from some fabulous float flying just to the west of you.

I think that's what I miss the most around here Walter...I don't have "FOKM"
if they can't take a joke in the hangar!

Winter's coming Garry...you'll be on those floats in a heart beat. Drill the
rivets out of the buckled stuff and you'll be surprised how much snaps back
into shape!

Congrats on getting back in the air, didn't take to long at all! As for the
image size... I go through new images about once a week and resize and update
anyway. The software I use "Irfanview" is available in the software area of
the file libraries... I find that even simply opening and then saving images
that are already 640x480 often produces a smaller file size with no visible
difference in quality... very nice software, easy to use, and most
importantly, FREE!

forthcoming again. Amazingly enough, even my wife wants me to keep the
