Hi Ian !

Think that was Wayne's comment ....

But I have flown at least one that had a thick (1/8"+) piece
of rubber above & below the spring - think it was cut from the
sidewall of a tire, and clamped in quite tightly. Guess the idea
was to give a bit of cushioning .... but you sure don't want
any side play !

Ian..would suspect U already have the 2 piece motor mount style fitting

in

the tail. The early Rebels had a multi layer of alum strap that held the
bolt and no bath tub fitting attached to the Fus-49.

Yep it was. As Bob points out Ian..side play is the most important issue.
The must be ZERO!! and in most cases to achieve this you need to make shims
to take up the slop. Small pieces of alum with enough of a bend ahead and
behind the TS1/2/3 assembly to keep them in place. You sometimes need to
shim the top and/or bottom as well to take slop out of the clamping area.
