I did a dry fit and put tape on the window along the seam of window and
retainer. Then goo squeezes out onto the tape. Removed the tape.

The concern I have with using the caulk tube sealant is how much do you put
in the joint. And depending on how close to the edge of parts will determine
how much is going to squeeze out at the lens edge. I'm concerned on getting
this cleaned up at the edge with out smearing into the viewable area. I
don't know what to expect for the clean up of this product with out eating
the plastic.
I was thinking maybe keep the sealant back away from the edges so none
sqeezes out and then go back and make a filet joint around the perimeter?

Thanks Gary
I'll look around for some and figure out a plan for when I get round to the
windscreen (still a while off yet :-) )

Mike and Nigel,
I just finished re-installing FOKM's windscreen using butyl tape. It had
been installed originally by Wayne with the same technique. It came out
beautifully, had never leaked a bit, and went back in with ease. I would
strongly recommend this technique as the material is workable into fine
lines and easily moved around. It can be purchased at most automotive
parts dealers and is commonly used for windshield installations in
cars.

Hi Mike
I'm in exactly the same position right now - I guess you must use
something
for the skylights and small side windows so I'm going to use the tube for
those - also I'll have to order some more from the USA as Bostik don't
stock
it in the UK.
If I order a couple of extra tubes I'll hopefully have a tube fresh for
the
windscreen if I need it.
Planning on removing the protective cover sheets on both sides just prior
to
install, then covering both sides with cling wrap after the glue has
cured
to protect the surface.

Nigel,
Is that tube of sealant that comes in the kit supposed to be used for the
skylights or for the windshield? Once I open it, it will have to be used
for
one purpose or the other.
Thanks,
Mike Betti

Hi Mike
I'll reply to you off list with some pictures to help you with the
positioning.
I will remove the lexan film covering before putting in the windows
with
the
supplied bostick sealant, and then cover them up again to prevent
damage
after it has set.
The doublers go on the inside for all roof and side windows.

Ok thanks,
But what I really needed was the dimension from the door opening in the
fuselage to the top of the window and bottom of window when the door is
closed. The first dimension should be around 1.25" and then the second
dimension should be what ever the clear viewing of the window is in
height
added to that. Sorry for being a pain. Also, do the doublers go on the
inside and what do you use for a sealant. I received some sort of
sealant
with the kit and I don't know it is saved for the windshield or
side/roof
lights. It's called Adthane. Do you leave the lexan protective film on
until
after painting of exterior or can you mask it off with tape ok? I was
thinking that the film may interfere with the sealant.
Thanks again,
Mike Betti
