AULA 912S Rebel / Temagami Flyin 2006

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 11:24 am

Legality of the 912S installed in an AULA without advising TC of the engine
change or the fact that the 912S is not on the TP10141 document MAM supplied
TC. As has been done on a few homebuilts around here I guess U can just act
dumb and say it went from a 912 to a 912....just ignore the fact of a
different letter!

As for the airplane itself...price wasn't out of the question. The pics I
was supplied with negated my desire to go see it in person. Peeling paint
off wing tops, questionably laid out and labeled panel lead me to believe
other workmanship would be similar. I'm a first impression.."buy it or
forget it" kinda guy! You should know that by know.

What happened to that trip South to go fishing with me??? Maybe next summer
when hopefully some of the Western gang heads East. Have enough dock for
about 4/5 planes right now and building a 16w x 24'long ramp this winter to
take up (in 4 pieces) and place/assemble on the ice before melt and my
neighbour is also more than happy to put a few at her dock as well.

Cheers,
Wayne

Thanks Wayne,

It was flown from Montreal to Sudbury in about 31/4 hrs with no problem.

Aurele
P.S. Other than the price, was there anything you spotted in particular
that
needed attention?

AULA 912S Rebel / Temagami Flyin 2006

Post by Aurele Lavigne » Sat Feb 18, 2012 11:24 am

I guess other builders have gotten away with the "S" factor in their Rebel.
Once I've flown this, hopefully on the 19th when in Sudbury, I've got my eye
on a 912S that's got 50hrs!!! since new sitting in a damaged Aerocruiser.
Have been after the guy for 2++ yrs to trade for mine +$$$ to reduce his
losses. Last week he sounded like he was considering this option. I hope to
be able to clearly identify the performance difference and make a decision.
As for your comments about that Rebel in Montreal, there's no doubt the
workmanship might not live up to your standards and might certainly be
unnoticeable to the untrained eye. We did notice the paint damage and the
overall price was negotiated to compensate.

Ended up having a somewhat busy summer, but did mangae to get out to my
buddies' camp in Gogama. Thought you would be pretty busy your first summer
out and it is a bit of a stretch for me flying out there. (read, tried to
duck having to work at your cottage, LOL).

Anyways, I have been following discussion on the Temagami Flyin 2006 and
will look at the overall flight plan, heck might fly into Gogama and get
some company to fly to Temagami with me next year.

Will keep in touch.

Aurele
