Guys,

Did anyone get the fiberglass stabilizer faring on the moose? How's it
look? Is it worth it?

Thanks,
Fred

Shoot....I should have added these questions...sorry for the noise....

1. Did anyone choose the Murphy M14P oil system?
2. Did anyone choose the Murphy M14P fuel system?
3. Did anyone choose the Fiberglass stabilizer faring?

If so, impressions/thoughts?

Thanks, Fred

It comes with a fiberglass fairing that looks and works just fine if staying
on wheels (it takes some work to make the seams look good).

If going on floats it needs more vertical fin area. You can make an
aluminum one similar to the C-185 and use parts of the stock fiberglass to
still go around the stab.

Or there is the one that (I believe) Ryan Mowat designed and someone else is
producing. I know it works well but (and I'll take some flake for this
because a lot have it on) to me it is goofy looking. The angle just isn't
right at the top where it fairs into the fin. I recall Ryan even saying
that once. Maybe if the fin/rudder was taller that would help (or round out
the fin rudder like a Beaver).

Hi Fred,

Yes, we used the fiberglass Vertical Stab faring. It looks just fine.
The only real problem we had was the lack of good instructions. We had to
figure out how best to join the two halves ourselves. We overlapped the
joining edge, shaped, riveted the overlap area, filled and fiberglassed over
the overlap.
Is it worth it?
We had it, and after a lot of bad language all worked out great.

Don, you guys have the standard fairing that comes with the kit right?

I see you have the ventral but no "seafins" on the stab tips (at least in
your first flight photo). How does it handle as far as yaw goes? I know
the Montana floats and the PK benefit from as much vertical area you can
get.
Your aerocet 3500's sure look nice.
