Hi Del !

Sounds like you're babying that Sub a bit - if it's an EJ-22.
Even Capt. Geert cruised his at 4,800 -- Rick used (still uses ?)
5,200 ... Climb (WOT) was about 5,600 - 5,800 IIRC ....

A few more rpm will give you a lot more satisfaction ! ;-)
Those engines are built tough, and like to rev !

Are you carrying one, or 2 notches of flap on the climb ?
Might be worth experimenting with flaps & speed - I've had better
luck with 2 notches and about 65 - 70 mph .... Your climb doesn't
sound toooo shabby, in any case ! ;-) GREAT airplane ! :-)

This kind of email exchange is GREAT !!! We need more of this
kind of information !

Thanks !

I wonder if some of you that have an O-320 on floats (straight or amphib)
could share your indicated airspeeds, rate of climb, and at what RPM's. I
would like to compare with my Subaru.

At gross weight warm day (25C) I am getting around 600-700 FPM climb at
75mph indicated (5200 rpm Prop 2363 rpm approx). I am getting 80-85 mph at
4500 RPM (Prop 2050). I am on straight Murphy 1800 floats.

Thank you,
