The Murphy Builders Site

I wonder if some of you that have an O-320 on floats (straight or amphib)
could share your indicated airspeeds, rate of climb, and at what RPM's. I
would like to compare with my Subaru.

At gross weight warm day (25C) I am getting around 600-700 FPM climb at
75mph indicated (5200 rpm Prop 2363 rpm approx). I am getting 80-85 mph at
4500 RPM (Prop 2050). I am on straight Murphy 1800 floats.

rebel 342 on amphib murphys 0-320 e2d 160 hp

at 25deg 2350 gives 95mph 2400 rpm gives 100 mph 2450 about 105
mph

rate of climb about 900 fpm at 70 mph at 1550 lbs gross 700 fpm at 1730
lbs ( gross) which i never exceed (cough, cough)

my plane weighs 1223 empty!
