Stinger issues; Experimental; Quality

Sorry to get you up out of your chair Bob.

Fact is the stinger attach bracket assembly is not designed right,
leading to cracks in at least two bulkheads in several flying Moose.
This issue has been known for over a year.

Fact is there are several manufacturing issues with the tailwheel
assembly that folks at the factory told me should be listed as service
bulletins.

I agree that these issues don't cause groundloops. They may contribute
to an already bad situation getting worse, but they are not the root
cause of the groundloop (I don't think).

If Daryl or someone else got on the list or called one of the folks that
have had problems and said, "We know about this issue and are designing
a fix that we hope to release by x date" then there would not be near
the discussion there is.

This email list has served its purpose in that there are now at least 5
(and perhaps more) of us that are joining together to create an updated
design. We plan to share such with everyone. Given that this is the
experimental world we can share such with everyone. Sharing thoughts
and ideas is the core basis behind the mailing list, I might add. So
please don't chastise the list for sharing the need to change something
just because it might reflect poorly on a design that simply needs to
evolve.

The Moose design is a great one at a good price. As it is used in the
field, experience shows that the design needs to evolve. The factory
should want to improve their initial design to make a great thing that
much better.

The fact that we are in the experimental world has absolutely nothing to
do with the issue. Check out Vans or other experimental manufacturer's
and compare the number of service bulletins they issue. There is
nothing wrong or shameful about issuing a service bulletin on this
stinger issue. Why MAM doesn't do so is beyond me, given the cracks
that have been well documented.
