Hi Ben
My understanding is that the MCU will adjust as required with altitude so
you set a power and it is maintained as you climb. I know this has been done
up to at least 10,000'.
Prop wise they seem to be going for MT 2 or 3 bladed. I plan on a MTV6 3
blade, and fit a MT reversible pitch governor so I can manoeuvre easily on
water.

Subject: RE: diesel engine
Nigel,
I see the control is a torque setting as oppposed to throttle. Does turbo
boost get taken care of automatically by the MCU, i.e. such that you will
get
full rated power at altitude? If so, a full ~120hp (or 160 for 4cyl) and
var
pitch prop at modest weight spells pretty nice performance. Also, do you
know who they recommend for propellor?

Hi Ralph
It's the WAM160, a 160hp 2 stroke turbocharged diesel. Full details at :
http://www.wilksch.com/
They are currently shipping only the 120hp 3 cylinder engine, and mine
(the
4 cylinder) is under development with an inverted flight system for RV
builders being the final design change before they offer it for sale,
hopefully at the end of this year.
The first Elite in the UK should fly later this summer behind a 120hp
diesel.
The 3 cylinder sounds good and runs really smoothly, so hopefully the 4
will
be more of the same.
It's the running costs that make them so appealing over here in England.
