Yeah Mike, I've seen your pics and you have quickly blown past me.
I'm sure others know more about Superior than I do, but I've only heard good
things about them. A little steep on the price, but a better product,
lighter
too, than a rebuilt true Lyc. The Jabiru is a flat-8. It could get me
excited too, but yes, you are guinea pigging for them a little, and price --
OMG, buy a Lyc instead! Subarus and Mazdas too, from the stories I've
heard,
you are asking to work on the plane for another year + AFTER first flight.
Subaru remains to have outside interest to me with increasing cost of fuel.

I'll have to look a little harder at OSH this year on that subject. I like
some of the engines coming out, such at the V8 jabereau?, but I don't want
to
have to be their test bed. I know of two local builders, one with a Mazda
and
one with a Subaru and they constantly are fighting issues. The Elite with
the
Subaru has made 2 dead stick landings in less than 2 hours of flight, one
off
airport landing, no damage anyway.
I keep plugging away at it each night. Darn job during the day gets in the
way though. Wife hasn't left me yet either.

I'm not so sure that the way Mike is cranking this airplane out that he
won't be flying by this time next year! I mean, he's well into the
fuselage
already, and he just got his kit this year! Amazing!!!

Mike,
I suggest you wait until you are actually ready for the engine to make
the purchase. We spent the same $ for a "O" time rebuild from a
prominent rebuilder as the non certified brand new engines that have
come on the scene since. The Lycs don't do well sitting around and the
shorter "inop" time the better. At the rate the engine prices and
availability are changing who knows what will be possible / available
when you really need it. An example might be the canadian diesel
