I'm finding the 360 engine hard to come by as either a
midtime or even as a core these days. Does the Elite
as a float plane have enough power with a 150hp 320?
Or would I sacrifice too much?

Mike,
I suggest you wait until you are actually ready for the engine to make
the purchase. We spent the same $ for a "O" time rebuild from a
prominent rebuilder as the non certified brand new engines that have
come on the scene since. The Lycs don't do well sitting around and the
shorter "inop" time the better. At the rate the engine prices and
availability are changing who knows what will be possible / available
when you really need it. An example might be the canadian diesel Wankel
that is in development.

I'm not so sure that the way Mike is cranking this airplane out that he
won't be flying by this time next year! I mean, he's well into the fuselage
already, and he just got his kit this year! Amazing!!!

Superior had a booth at the airshow in Oshawa last weekend. The main
sales pitch was on how the intake and exhaust manifolds had all rounded
and smooth corners and surfaces on the inside for smoother airflow. Also
they pushed the fact that the cast was of a better quality than a
Lyc.They had the pieces to compare and yes they weren't as rough as the
normal cast block and manifolds. The rep had flown an RV powered by the
engine in from Texas. I liked what I saw but still doing the research.
