Super Rebel Control Cables

Post by David Qualley » Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:27 pm

I am starting to rig up a few of my control cables now.. My manual
seems to be lacking in detail, I don't know if I am missing parts, can't
find the pages, or if it just doesn't say..

On the end of the cables connected to the Rudder and Elevator horns, do
I use an AN111-4 to form the eye of the cable? Is it installed the same
way as the AN100-4c thimble?

Where do the turnbuckles go on these assemblies? I would guess that
they are at the rudder pedal connection, and the elevator horn at the
rear of Station 8..

Super Rebel Control Cables

Since no SR builders have replied, I can tell you that the standard Rebel manual
is poor in this area as well. But it does show the cable nicopressed around a
AN100C-4 thimble and the AN4-11A elevator horn bolt goes through the thimble.
The control column end is attached to a turnbuckle in the same fashion.

No AN111 bushings are shown even though that seems like a much better idea in
this location. Tony Bingelis says the 111 performs the same function as the 100
and seems to say they are interchangeable.

My current quandary is that I put the floor back as far as the manual specified
and now it looks like a pulley is in order for the upper elevator cable instead
of the specified fair leads. Also my FUS-44 inner cabin corner wraps are 3" too
narrow for the main cabin area. :(

Have you made any provision for cargo tie downs? There is nothing at all shown
in my Rebel manual for ties downs but clearly something is needed.
