Alan,
Ben Visser, who spent many years as a Shell engineer, said at Sun&Fun
one year that an engine run 300 hours on 100LL and then switched to auto
fuel had a normal TBO life in their testing.

I think I remember you saying that you did not have a rolled lower
firewall edge (ala RVs). That will provide a smoother and more
efficient hot air exit and may lower your temps. I looked for a 4" SCAT
(oil cooler) flange without success but I believe I've seen one on a
certified aircraft - old brain just can't pull out which one.

Enjoy your flyoff.

PS- Our US Federal legislature is beginning to stir regarding doubling
the alchohol use in USA gasoline. Already it is almost impossible to
find auto gas without alchohol in midwestern states. No aviation auto
fuel STC permits alchohol added fuels so if you go the auto fuel route
verify you are buying gasoline only.

Ralph:

I do have a lip on the lower cowl - just about a 1" radius. We'll see how
it goes. I plan to put up with the slight oil leak until the replacement O
rings arrive, and put a good couple of hours on it at 2500 rpm, provided
temps stay reasonable.

Regards, Al
