Roof skin

Post by Mike Betti » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:38 am

Hi all,
I'm getting ready to fit roof skin. Does the front edge actually go
behind the fus1. The top line of rivets are still out but it looks like
I would have to drill out the the row below them just so I can pry fus1
away far enough to get the skin behind it. Is this correct?
Thanks,
Mike Betti

Roof skin

Post by steve whitenect » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:38 am

Hi Mike
Buddy of mine realized that somewhere's in the manuel after the front plates
are riveted in, it says not to rivet the top rows because of this. The rows
of rivets in the top plates that go in the top cross member should be
clecoed until the roof is ready to go in. Don't have my manuel nearby but
the front edge of the roof goes behind the front root pickups or plates. I
installed my skylites after I had the fuse completed with no problem. I
wasn't going to put them in but after a little stick time in the garage, I
realized as suggested by most on the site that at least the two front
windows shud be there. See ya in Osh!

Roof skin

Hi Mike: I am on a 2nd Rebel and both manuals state quite clearly "NOT TO
RIVET THE FRONT FUS 1 BRACKET AT ALL when assembling the cabin frame. I also
wondered why, the first time around, until I read further ahead and saw that
the roof skin does go under this bracket. That is a pretty stiff bracket -
lots of luck prying out. Bob J

Just looked again at the manual for Elite and they only show the top row
omitted, you would think they would follow the Rebel instructions. Had to
drill out the bottom row.
