Covering exhaust with tape.

Not so sure it's the tape either Bob. I stuck my neck out on the Supercub
site and got machine gunned. Guys have been running it on their planes for
many years with no detrimental effects to stainless exhausts and tell me
they wouldn't run a plain steel one anyhow. The exhaust that was on Mike
Davy's Rebel was plain steel..one of the first HP exhausts from MAM I
believe and it was just about toast at 32 hours total time and it was stored
in a hangar. Makes me wonder if the tape is the culprit!

area -

Newfoundland ! ;-) :-) Maybe a little more humidity than your
area ...... It was just a reminder to peek under the tape now & then !
Sounds like you're having good results. Some builders have had
great results by having the insides of the exhaust pipes ceramic
coated - lots of automotive places to do this at reasonable cost...

Hi Drew !

Be very careful of that ceramic tape - especially if the exhaust
is not stainless steel !! There have been many reports of moisture
trapped in the tape causing hidden corrosion - one Rebel landed
with exhaust flames blowing out on the gascolator because the
whole pipe was eaten away under the tape !!
