Mike,

Is there a way to put a header on the top of every email, similar to the notes at the bottom that could be guidelines for the subject line?

It could be very short but remind us to preface the subject line with Rebel - , Elite -, Moose - Off topic, or whatever is a good way (R/E for rebel & elite, M/SR for moose & super rebel, OT for off topic?).

It could also remind us to CHANGE the subject when the subject changes from the original post.

It seems if it was brief and at the top maybe we would actually use them and it would help guys be able to organize their in-box with filters, etc.

I know this has been brought up before but never seems to last very long.

A very good idea! Maybe include "ALL" for stuff that applies to building in
general or something like that.

Mind you this probably means I have to delete the prefix msg and the
suffix msg now to clean up a reply ;(
The search engine here is so fast that I thought having the wrong
subject was a pretty minor thing in the archives although it does force
one to read a bit of every new post I suppose...

For the other thread, I really hope that Wayne and Everyone knows that I
appreciate all responses to my posts even though I normally refuse to
clutter the list with just a "thank you" unless I can add something
useful or witty. Similarly while I like to hear about everybody's
success I don't normally post "congratulations" unless I have something
more useful to add. Maybe I should but I figure everyone here has an
appreciation for what a large accomplishment finishing up one of these
birds is. BTW is this one of the lists that will keep a post out of the
archives if I add that "DNA" suffix?

I love the diversity and knowlege on this list. There are some factory
moderated lists out there that are almost a cult in terms of intolerance
to any dissenting opinions or new ideas...

Maybe that is kind of annoying at the top?? The only thing I really like is
when guys put what type of aircraft when talking about specific problems.

I realize I am among the minority here, and probably one of the
worst culprits, but I don't mind a subject line being off topic
of the current discussion. If it is a long repeated thread, then
at least I remember the previous post without having to read down
again, to see what the thread is about and how it originated.
Like Ken, I also rely on the search command to find things in the
archives.

But if Mike is going to put a message on top, instead of the
bottom, I would suggest keeping it as short as possible to avoid
clutter at the top, which is where it matters to me.

To shorten, it might look like this:

***Adjust subject to current topic, and use DNA to not archive***

FWIW and JMO, but am happy with whatever.

Both Netscape and Internet Extortion have preview views. This enables
quickly deciding what to read/keep/toss.
Having had the same email address since 95, I only get about 200 spams a
day. Another 5 years and I'll catch up to Wayne!

Wayne, about 1/3 the emails I type I delete before sending as I feel my
comments may not always be appropriate.
Sometimes I hit send and regret it later. One of the dangers of free
speech, the internet and a good single malt.
I had written an email regarding your rebuilt as you had the kindness to
send me the Irish accident report with pics.
Sorry now I didn't send but like all others appreciate your assistance
in sprit and kind. (not to mention the Leafs tickets) ;--)

Now what to do? Hit send or delete??

Okay I just deleted a couple of Paragraphs and will send this one or 50%
of it.;-)

BTW get that Moose done so we can talk $$$ on my final finishing or I'll
still be at it in another 10 years.

Topic Description, Was: Old Topic Title" provides the pointer Walter
would use to track back to the originl thread.
