Hi All,

As posted earlier N622D the "Double Duce Delta Moose" took its maiden flight
on Friday 05-20-05. As we were getting close to first flight and at the same
time communicating with George Coy about some M-14 matters, George asked who
was planing to do the first flight. Well ... both Randy and I are capable
and at the same time our airtime the last couple of years has been minimal
(building you know) and our time in large seaplanes is minimal ...

George offered to do the first flight. He knows the M-14 well, makes a Yak
sing in the air, lots of seaplane time and DC-3's before breakfast. Randy
and I decided that it made LOTS of since to take George up on his offer and
we did. George was gracious enough to fly from Swanton Vermont to Utica NY
on a days notice and take our baby for its first flight. It was comforting
to know that "Smoky" was in good hands as it levitated from the runway. All
went well and George was able to give us great feedback about what to expect
when we each took our turn. Both Randy and I got to fly that day and
George's guidance was a huge help.

I would publicly like to thank George for all his support along the road to
completion and for his taking the time out of his busy schedule to be on the
stick for N622D's first flight.

I would encourage anyone who is in the market for an M-14 or related items
to support George's efforts to keep the manufacture of these great engines
alive.

I would also suggest that having an experienced "Test Pilot" help you out on
first flight day makes good sense. I know out west Robin from MAM and Keith
Kinden at Montana floats would be great candidates.

George, can't wait to fly off the 40 hours and head up to Swanton VT for a
visit.
Regards,
Don Boardman
