I've been poking around trying to find some website or equivalent that
lists the waterways in Canada where floatplanes are banned. All that I
am fairly certain of is National Parks waters and in Alberta the
Willmore Wilderness area floatplanes are verbotten. There are lakes with
speed limits of 12 miles per hour and so on which on the surface would
prohibit floats but probably don't as floatplanes are federally
regulated. I also couldn't find any reference to this subject in the
archives - at least I could find a suitable search tag.

Does anyone have links that work for this search or guidance for someone
relatively new at this game?

In BC, you are restricted from landing in many lakes within
provincial parks, unless you get permission. However, this
permission can be obtained through a new arrangement the BCFA has
with BC Parks, and as a member you can gain blanket permission
through the website that is good for the full year. Here is the

The "Seaplane Pilots Association" publishes a directory of legal and not
legal lakes for the US and it does include parts of Canada. You might be able to
access it from their web site.
