Fund Raiser

I'll keep this short... I assure you, I will not use this forum as a sounding board to try and make money. But I have had several e-mails in the past 2 years from members of this list offering to help out financially for providing this list forum. Thank you again for those who have offered... but it was never my intent to make any money doing this. I ran a small ISP here Maryland, so the resources I used for this list were already in place and available... basically, it didn't cost me anything to do it. Due to certain business relationships, I chose to sell the ISP, and get out of the business... this changed the situation since I no longer had business systems on the net to provide these services. I managed to put together a server to keep everything up and running. As I started hosting web sites and mailing list for other organizations (also for free), I upgraded that server to a nice multi-processor system. I am currently faced with the possibility of needing to upgrade several software licenses in the near future, and have decided to ask all those folks I provide services for, for help. Now... before anybody even thinks it... I don't want anybody to send me any money! Thank you to those who would, but it's really not necessary. I'm asking that those who are interested in helping, view a web site I have with information about programs that will pay you to have a small advertising banner on your screen while you surf the Internet. This is not a get rich quick scheme! But there is the potential to make a reasonable amount of money ($20+ a month), and for anybody who does use this, we would receive an even smaller amount of referral income. Whether there is a significant turnout to this request, I fully intend to continue to offer all services as is. I do this because I want to, I just felt it was worth asking.

I'll not go on anymore... If you are interested in learning more about this, just view this web page: http://www.dcsol.com/net.htm

Now... back to building airplanes! That's what this list is all about.

Thanks for your time, Mike

Hi Bill

Some of the guys convinced Mike to accept a few dollars donation to
offset the out of pocket expenses of running this service. I believe
there is a paypal option on his website now.

Perhaps a canadian facilitator would help the fund raiser. For example
the only way that I can contribute is to remember to purchase a US$
money order the next time I am in town and at a bank. Chances are that
I'll forget. OTOH I could drop a cdn$ cheque in the mail today but it is
not much good sending that to Mike. Some guys are comfortable with
paypal but I will not give them my credit card number nor agree to their
conditions of use.

Hi Ken last time and this time I'll just take a chance on sending cash
through the mail. I feel a single bill wrapped by a piece of paper has a
very good likelyhood of making it through. I used to pay for the rebel
rouser the same way

Bill, I've place information on the archive web site to allow donations via
PayPal and posted my mailing address for those who don't care to use PayPal.

Ken, perhaps for those Canadians who perfer not to use paypal they should
just send their donation to Daryl via Wayne. This way he may actually get
enough that the next time I'm struggling with a software issue he's willing
to help out again.

Thanks, Mike
