Amphib Suspension

Hi gang -- for any of you who are not happy with your urethane
suspension, like myself, I have some good news.
Today , for the first time, I can actually jump up and down in the
float, watch the wheel go up and down, properly.
I installed die springs in place of urethane. 3.5 in by 1.5 in by .75
in ID Green or extra heavy duty. I did the calculations and figured I
needed this spring. Thats 1750 lbs when fully compressed. I machined
the aluminum washers so they had a .75 boss on them to center the
springs and to get the correct preload-- about .200 in. The springs fit
right in place. They support the plane right at the top of the slot in a
static postion but when you are taxing or landing you can see and feel
them move much more than before.
Besides that it was a great day for flying period and the bay was
smooth.
