are aware of it, and perhaps may even have exchanged words with the
"designer/manufacturers" .... :-(
It is MUCH lighter than the Rebel, and has a lower VNE, but it has
MANY design features that were copied EXACTLY from the earlier Rebels. It
has tiny fuel tanks - 40 Liters per side - probably to qualify as UltraLight.
It seems they are claiming cruise of about 110 mph with the Jabiru 6 cyl. -
interesting that they went to a Rotax 912 for the second aircraft, though. :-)
(I think the 912 is a better choice
- but everybody knows I'm prejudiced ! ;-) )
It looks like they are using a wrapped Lexan windshield, attached to a
center support. This is DEFINITELY a 'BAD IDEA' (tm) !! SOOO glad that
Murphy went to the full formed Acrylic windshield !
For translations, you might try pointing the Babelfish at it - not the
greatest translations, but readable ....

The suspension system is a type used on several homebuilts, and it is
used on the Murphy amphibious floats, as well. It consists of a series of
polyurethane rubber discs, with aluminum discs in between, in compression.
You can 'prescription order' the polyurethane to give whatever energy
absorbtion/rebound rate you desire. This can be an excellent setup, but
the rubber may deteriorate because of oil or sunlight ... Also, the rings
tend to slip out of alignment by sliding off to the side. This arrangement
is MUCH better than the 'die spring' steel compression spring setup seen
here occasionally. The bungees are still the simplest way to go, provided
you use pre-made rings. See the archives for drawings of a gadget to help
you make your own - or just order No. 9044 rings from A-S, or most aircraft
suppliers. (3 front/3 back, on each side)

Today I found the web site for a German manufacturer who produces "The
Real Thing" which appears to me to be a copy of the Murphy Rebel, with a
few changes.
Something that I did see, that took my attention, was a suspension
system that did not use the bungee system. Has anyone any thoughts on
this system?
They also use the Australian Jabiru 120 hp air-cooled engine. Does
anyone know how this 'plane performs with this engine. Unfortunately,
all their information is in German, and I am not at all conversant in
German. Does anyone here read and understand German?
