Form 8050-2 /bill of sale

Posted: Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:27 am

Hi all,

I was reading through my recent copy of 'Sport Pilot'
which has an article about 'Ten Registration Mistakes
to Avoid'. It mentioned 'Failure to include a Form
8050-2 Bill of Sale'. Did everyone else on the FAA
system receive this from Murphy when they purchased
their kit? I didn't.

Thanks,

-Jason

positive.

I received one with my kit, but when registering my last experimental I did
not have one... to get around it I just checked "assembled from assorted
parts and pieces" versus "built from a kit". When it's built from parts and
pieces you don't need a bill of sale, but you do need to do the worksheet
showing you did 51% percent of the construction since you don't have a bill
of sale showing it was a pre-qualified kit.

Hi , I received one from MAM but since kits change hands sometimes before
finishing sometimes they must be requested I was told. So I requested one to
file paper work and was sent one right aways. No delays in getting one.

I didn't recieve one either. I heard Vans gives you one just prior to
needing it on their kits. I was figuring maybe the same would happen when I
was ready??

Form 8050-2 /bill of sale

I didn't get a bill of sale. Just an invoice. The FAA says an invoice is
no good because it doesn't show change of ownership. I emailed MAM and they
sent me an FAA form 8050-2 bill of sale right away. Even though I told them
they could put the full price down since Alaska has no state tax they still
put the sale price as "$1 and other consideration". If only that were true.

"$1 and other valuable consideration" is the only thing Transport Canada
will accept on our bill of sales. They will not take one with a real amount
on them! :O)
