Any tips out there on a method to get the riveter in where there is a side
wall that interferes with the rivet gun's nose? I used to have a real cheapo
rivet good enf for 1/8" rivets only that let me get within 3/16 of a side
interference. But it has broken beyond repair, and I see even home HW stores
now sell something stronger but with bigger diam nose.

Ben, this doesn't necessarily apply to side wall interference,
but I have used this little trick sometimes when I couldn't get
the nose of the riveter in tight against the rivet head. I
snipped off a piece of a scrap aluminum piano hinge and used it
as a short bushing to slip over the mandrel. If tight on the
sidewall side, this even allowed a little bending of the mandrel
to provide additional clearance without compromising the solid
fit of the rivet head.

The pros in this group are probably cringing at this suggestion,
and maybe there are better ways, but it worked for me.

Thanks Walter. I've used a bushing to get the riveter just a tad higher off
the work -- raising the wide part of the riveter up above a side
interference -- but hadn't tried angling the bushing. Will give that a shot,
cringe or not. As long as the stem breaks at its usual place, which I think
it would, this sounds like a good idea to me. Thanks.
